Dr. Fawaz Hatim Zu’bi - Chairman of the Board of Trustees

Dr. Fawaz Hatim Zu'bi is Founder and Chief Executive of Silicon Badia — a venture capital firm investing in global technology companies through a number of funds under its management. In 2005, he formed the MENA region’s first venture capital firm, Accelerator Technology Holdings. Dr. Zu’bi currently serves as director on the boards of several private companies and NGOs, which include the Queen Rania Foundation, Endeavor Jordan, Société Générale de Banque Jordanie and Oasis500. Between 2000 and 2004, he served as Jordan's Minister of ICT and Minister of Administrative Development. 

Dr. Zu’bi also served as a member of HM King Abdullah’s Economic Consultative Council, and was a director on the Board of Trustees of the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, and Arab Jordan Investment Bank (AJIB). He was a founding member of the Jordan Exporters Association, Jordan Quality Association, Young Entrepreneurs Association and Jordan’s Young Presidents Organization. He also chaired the Jordan Education Initiative. Dr. Zu’bi holds a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University in the United States.

Omar Maani - Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees

Omar Maani is a businessman and reform driven politician serving in the Jordanian house of senate. Mr. Maani also served as Mayor of Amman, the capital of Jordan, for five years from 2006 during which his proactive approach to urban and community planning and development received global recognition. Prior to his tenure, he was the founder and Chairman of Maani Group, a private sector manufacturing group which he led for the past 30 years. In 2005, he was appointed Vice-Chairman of Vocational Training & Employment for the National Agenda.

From 2002-2006 he served as Board Member with the Social Security Investment Fund and was mandated to act as a trustee of the people’s resources. As a committed businessman and entrepreneur with the vision that economic growth can contribute to the well-being of the country, Mr. Maani served from 2000-2002 on the Board of Directors for the Amman Chamber of Industry. He was also among a small group of founding members of the Young Entrepreneurs Association and is a board member of INJAZ, an association that brings business skills to youth in the region. Mr. Maani completed his BSc in Civil Engineering from the United Kingdom and MSc in Construction Management from the United States.

Adey Salamin

Adey Salamin is the Founder of iMENA Group — a company operating online and mobile businesses for consumers and enterprises in MENA markets — and CEO of OpenSooq.com — a leading online marketplace platform in the MENA region for selling, buying or advertising goods and services. He has led strategic advisory projects for MENA companies’ technology commercialization, market entry, deal sourcing and structuring in Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Libya. In previous years, Mr. Salamin worked as VP and a member of the investment team at the Abraaj Group and also worked for Merrill Lynch Investment Managers LP in New York and New Jersey. Over the course of his career, he has served as a judge and mentor for the MIT Arab Student Organization, the MENA 100 Business Plan with OECD, the MSFT Imagine Cup and the Wharton Arab Business Plan competition. Mr. Salamin holds a Finance and Accounting Certificate from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Engineering.

Ahmad Hanandeh

Ahmad Hanandeh former  CEO of Zain Jordan, prior to joining the Zain family, he worked for five years as General Manager of Posta Plus - a Gulf-based company specializing in world-class delivery, courier and postal services across the Middle East. He has received many awards for his outstanding achievements, including the Global Telecom Business Award in 2015, the Europe Business Assembly’s Socrates award for Best Manager of the Year, the Operators Telecom Leader of the Year and Telecom Man of the Year in 2014, as well as the Telecoms Professional of the Year award in 2012. Throughout his career, Mr. Hanandeh has focused on investing in values of trust, respect and transparency to better all communities. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Banking and Finance from Yarmouk University.

Nour Abu-Ragheb

Nour Abu-Ragheb held the position of Acting CEO of the Crown Prince Foundation from July 2017 to end of February 2018 in addition to her role as a board member of the Foundation. Mrs. Abu-Ragheb is Co-Founder and Partner of Edvise ME - a leading development consulting company founded in 2014 that offers advisory and technical services to organizations working to reform education and empower youth through strengthening their ability to do better strategic planning, more effective monitoring and evaluation, business development and sustainable fundraising. Prior to Edvise ME, Mrs. Abu-Ragheb worked for USAID/Jordan as a Project Management Specialist in the Education and Youth Office; where she advised management on education and youth policy issues, worked closely with local and international implementing partners as well as Government of Jordan counterparts and managed several multi-million-dollar education programs. Moreover, Mrs. Abu-Ragheb started her career at the Ministry of Education in Jordan, where she was a member of the Development Coordination Unit serving the Education Reform for the Knowledge Economy Program (ERfKE). Mrs. Abu-Ragheb earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Maryland and went on to complete her Master of Education degree in International Education Policy from Harvard University in 2005.

Omar Alwir

Omar Alwir is CEO of the Saudi Jordanian Investment Fund Company, an investment fund formed by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, with participation from Jordanian banks, to invest in large projects in Jordan. Before that, Mr. Alwir was the CEO of AB Invest, a subsidiary of the Arab Bank Group. Until 2013, Mr. Alwir was CEO of Capital Investments, a subsidiary of Capital Bank of Jordan. Before joining Capital Investments, he was Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Singularity Advisors, an Indo-Mena corporate advisory service.

Previously, Mr. Alwir was Assistant for Policy at the Office of His Majesty King Abdullah II in Jordan. He has also served as Policy Advisor to the Minister of Finance of Jordan, Policy Advisor to the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan and worked in the restructuring and bankruptcy consulting fields with Chicago-based Navigant Consulting. Mr. Alwir graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and minors in history and psychology.

Samih Toukan

Samih Toukan is the Founder and was the CEO of Maktoob.com - the world’s first Arabic email and largest online Arab community with over 16 million users. Following its acquisition by Yahoo, Mr. Toukan became Chairman of Jabbar Internet Group (Jabbar.com) - a group that founded several leading Internet companies, including Souq.com — the Arab world’s largest e-commerce site which was acquired by Amazon. In 2009, Mr. Toukan received the Al Hussein Medal for Distinguished Performance of the First Order from His Majesty King Abdullah II in recognition of his contribution to the IT and Telecommunications sector in Jordan and the region. In 2011 and again in 2012 he was ranked among the 500 most influential Arabs in the world by Arabian Business magazine. In 2014, he received a Takreem award for Outstanding Corporate Leadership in the Arab World. Today, Mr. Toukan is an active investor, investing in many startups in the region and around the world, and he mentors many entrepreneurs. Mr. Toukan holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of London and a Master degree in Management and International Business from HEC University in France.

Yasmeen Muhtaseb

Yasmeen Muhtaseb is the MENA Advisory Risk Leader and Partner at EY MENA, a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services. Leveraging more than 17 years of experience gained at EY, Ms. Muhtaseb leads services in risk assurance, risk transformation, internal audit, cybersecurity, and risk management of financial services. She is also the firm’s sponsoring partner of Diversity and Inclusiveness in the MENA region, overseeing several programs that aim to strengthen gender equality, career management, and women leadership. 

Ms. Muhtaseb attained her Bachelor of Commerce in Management and Economics from the University of Toronto and is a certified Canadian Chartered Accountant (CA), Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and Certified Risk Professional.
